Substance Abuse Resources Team (START)

START is a program designed to help older adults who are misusing alcohol or medications. The program assists the older adult and their family in dealing with the complex problem of substance abuse; provide educational programs to community groups; and educate health care professionals about substance abuse in an aging population.

The program provides confidential consultation; home visits; one-to-one counseling; medication reviews; coordination with the client doctor(s); referrals to community agencies and other helpful resources; information about partial hospitalization services and treatment programs for older adult and their families.

Cost: Based upon ability to pay. Funded by county, state and federal health funding sources.
