About Us...
The
Orange County Cancer Detection Partnership (OCCDP) coordinates and
promotes breast and cervical cancer early detection services funded
by the California Department of Public Health Cancer Detection
Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC).
Background
Funded by the State
of California Breast Cancer Act of 1993 (Chapters 600 and 661,
Statute of 1993), the Orange County Breast Cancer Partnership
(OCBCP) was established in December 1994 as one of 10 Regional
Breast Cancer Partnerships statewide. In 2002, cervical cancer
screening outreach and education was added to the Partnership’s
scope of work, and the Partnership’s name was then changed to Orange
County Cancer Detection Partnership to reflect the additional focus.
Vision
Our commitment to building on past successes and enhancing current
and future efforts will provide all families in Orange County with
access to quality, appropriate and relevant cancer education,
screening, and care thereby providing families with the tools to
make healthy lifestyle choices.
Mission
To decrease cancer morbidity and mortality, and improve the overall
health status in Orange County by increasing the ability and
capacity of local communities to provide on-going, easily
accessible, comprehensive, diversity-sensitive, integrated systems
to ensure that all families in Orange County, especially the
underserved, do not encounter barriers to cancer early detection,
treatment and education.
Purpose
The Partnership's
purpose is to increase the number of low-income, uninsured and
underinsured women who access free breast and cervical cancer annual
screening services provided by the California Department of Public
Health Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts (CDP: EWC). The
Partnership also helps those ineligible for the state-funded program
access free or low-cost screening and diagnostic services in
collaboration with local foundations and community providers.
Clinical Services Coordination Component
The
Partnership's clinical services coordination component is
responsible for maintaining a geographically and linguistically
balanced regional healthcare provider network. Partnership
clinical staff is responsible for provider recruitment,
professional education and continuous quality improvement
activities.
