National Council on Alcoholism and Drug
Dependence - Orange County (NCADD – OC) / Community Alliance Network
(CAN)
CAN is the prevention arm of
NCADD-OC and is dedicated to creating and implementing prevention
strategies that reduce underage drinking. Project staff provide
education, training and technical assistance in the cities of Laguna
Beach, Newport Beach, Dana Point and Anaheim. Efforts focus on
increasing adult awareness of the prevalence and consequences of
underage drinking, as well as a better understanding of effective
prevention strategies that address this problem. For more

Community Service Programs: Positive
Actions Toward Health (CSP/PATH)
CSP~PATH is a community-based prevention
project that aims to create safe and healthy communities by reducing
problems associated with alcohol and other drug (AOD) impaired
driving. Project staff provide education, training, and technical
assistance in the cities of Anaheim, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and
Irvine. Efforts focus on increasing community awareness of driving
under the influence (DUI) enforcement operations conducted by local
law enforcement and educating community members on effective
prevention strategies that address this problem. For more

Prescription and Over-The-Counter Drug Abuse
Community Service Programs: Positive
Actions Toward Health (CSP/PATH)
CSP~PATH is a community-based prevention project that aims to create
safe and healthy communities by reducing problems associated with
prescription and over-the-counter (Rx/OTC) drug use. Project staff
provide education, training, and technical assistance in the cities
of Fullerton, Orange, Newport Beach and Mission Viejo. Efforts focus
on increasing adult awareness of the problems of Rx/OTC drug abuse
and educating health professionals on effective strategies that

School-Based and
Youth-Focused Projects
Friday
Night Live Partnership—Orange County Department of Education
Friday Night Live builds partnerships for
positive and healthy youth development and engages youth as active
leaders and resources in their communities. Youth take the lead in
implementing prevention projects and activities at their school and
in their community to build protective factors that counter or
buffer the risks of alcohol and other drug use. The Orange County
Friday Night Live Partnership (OCFNLP) partners with youth attending
public, alternative and continuation schools, and with young people
participating in community, faith-based, and youth-serving

Youth
Connect—Orange County Department of Education
Youth Connect is a school-based alcohol and other drug prevention
project that focuses on building protective factors that counter or
buffer the risks of alcohol and other drug use. The project
emphasizes training students to guide their peers in staying alcohol
and drug free. Youth take on leadership roles by developing and
implementing prevention activities with freshmen students at four

California
Hispanic Commission on Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse (CHCADA)—La Familia
The prevention project through La Familia works to increase
awareness of the consequences of alcohol and other drugs among the
Latino community. Services include providing educational services
and life and social skills workshops to students in Orange County
middle schools. La Familia engages student and parent groups,
facilitates alternative and diversionary activities, and provides

Faith-Based ATOD Prevention Project
The mission of CSP/PATH’s Faith-Based Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other
Drug (ATOD) prevention project is to build the capacity of
faith-based organizations (FBOs) to provide youth-focused alcohol
and other drug prevention services. The project focuses on building
protective factors that counter or buffer the risks of alcohol and
other drug use. Project staff provide education, training and
technical assistance to several Orange County faith-based

Data Collection Projects
CLEW Associates
– Alcohol/drug Sensitive Information Planning System (ASIPS)
The
ASIPS Program is a specialized information utility designed to
assist local communities in developing data on alcohol and other
drug (AOD) involvement in police activities and applying that data
to the prevention or reduction of AOD-related problems in the local
community. The heart of the program is an ASIPS Data Base, which
uses police calls-for-service and arrest data to profile
alcohol/drug involvement in police activity and to report AOD-related
events in local community environment contexts of time, location,
