CYS Pediatric Symptom Checklist

Because parents are often the first to notice a problem with their child’s behavior, emotions, or learning, you may help your child get the best care possible by answering the questions found on the Pediatric Symptom Checklist.

The Pediatric Symptom Checklist (PSC) obtains parents’ reports of children’s behavioral/ emotional problems. The PSC is a screening instrument and not a diagnostic tool. The PSC is designed to alert parents early to difficulties in functioning that may indicate current or potential psychosocial problems. In other words, use of the PSC may make it possible for parents to intervene earlier and thus to prevent some childhood conditions from becoming more serious disorders. A positive score on the PSC suggests the need for further evaluation by a qualified health or mental health professional.
