Orange County Emergency Medical Services is seeking nominations for 2006’s EMS Persons-of-the-Year. Nominations for outstanding service can be made for fire, police, ambulance, dispatch, and hospital personnel. Nominations may also be for a team, group, or organization as a whole. The Health Care Agency's Emergency Medical
Services, in partnership with the Orange County Fire Chiefs
Association, the Orange County Fire Authority, Anaheim Fire
Department, Orange County Sheriff's Department, the American Red
Cross-Orange County Chapter, Garden Grove Police Department,
Orange Fire Department, Orange County SAFE KIDS and the Ambulance
Association of Orange County, have come together to plan a week of
public information and outreach about the many vital emergency
services and trainings that are available throughout the County of
Orange.
A majority of these Upcoming Community Events
are open to the public and we strongly recommend that you explore
the various injury prevention topics and join us as we educate
ourselves in various ways to keep ourselves and our families safe
from harm.
EMS Week will culminate in an opportunity to
honor and celebrate Orange County's Emergency Services personnel.
Plan a family day with us as we host a tailgate celebration on
Saturday, May 27, 2006 in honor of our EMS professionals at Angel
Stadium of Anaheim.
Orange County EMS WEEK and Orange County Safe Kids
celebrate National Safe Kids Week
National Safe Kids Week (May 6 - 13) has been held
annually for 13 years. This year's theme is Safe Pools for Safe Kids and
more than 300 Safe Kids Week events will take place across
the nation to
educate parents and pool owners about how to keep kids safe from drowning. Here in Orange County (CA), the Orange County Fire Authority in
partnership with Safe Kids Orange County will be hosting a
Drowning Prevention/Water Safety Awareness on May 17 at 10 a.m. at
Blue Buoy Swim School in Tustin. For additional information contact:

Keeping Children
Safe To the first 50
parents who email us
a free keeping children safe video (DVD or
VHS tape). The "Keeping Children Safe"
DVD is a
comprehensive injury prevention tool designed to help educate
parents about the most frequent causes of injury to children age
0-5 years
and prevention strategies. The DVD consists of 26 "vignettes" which demonstrate a "wrong"
and "right" way to protect a child from injury. California
Chapter 4, American Academy of Pediatrics, Injury Prevention
Program's mission is to provide expertise and resources, and
advocate for public policy to prevent childhood injuries.
