Let your heart beat for a healthy cause ...
The 8th Annual Saddleback Memorial Half Marathon & 5K raises funds to fight heart disease and save lives!

The Saddleback Memorial Half Marathon & 5K is more than a series of races. It's a weekend of healthy fun for all ages -- all to raise funds to fight heart disease through the not-for-profit Saddleback Memorial Medical Center and the Ray of Life Foundation. The beautiful Laguna Hills Community Center is the perfect site for the half-marathon and 5K finish line, the two-day community expo, "world famous" bed race, and the YELLOW BOOK Kids races. On Monday morning, a touching Memorial Day tribute kicks-off the half marathon & 5K scenic point-to-point races.Saddleback Memorial Marathon logo graphic

Four years ago Dr. Ray Jacobson, an emergency room physician at the Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, San Clemente Campus, died of cardiac arrest at 39. Three weeks before he died, he had told his wife, Helena, that lifeguards at beaches, law enforcement officers in patrol cars and golf courses should have automatic external defibrillators on hand. To honor her husband and bring awareness to communities that defibrillators can save lives, Helena founded the nonprofit Ray of Life Foundation, gathering donations and grant funding to place units in the three places her husband suggested.

Because of Dr. Jacobson's untimely and sudden death, Orange County continues to become more heartsafe. Since it's founding, The Ray of Life has placed over 130 AEDs in high schools, fitness centers, community clinics and other public places in Orange County. Saving Lives in the memory of a man who save so many.
