Information About Immunizations (Vaccines) |
Vaccines provide protection against dangerous infectious diseases and save lives. Vaccines prevent diseases such as measles, whooping cough, polio, hepatitis B, and chickenpox. Many of these serious infectious diseases are at (or near) record low levels in the United States because of vaccines. Unfortunately, recent outbreaks of pertussis and measles in the U.S. demonstrate the dangers of people not having the recommended vaccinations. By vaccinating on time, you can protect your family and also protect others in your community. Consult with your doctor if youhave any questions.
The recommended schedule of vaccines depends upon individual factors such as age group, health status, pregnancy, and foreign travel. Information, recommendations, and resources for these and other important categories are available below.
