SANTA ANA - Emergency medical personnel will be honored Tuesday, May 16 at 9:30 a.m. by the Orange County Board of Supervisors in the Board Hearing Room, 10 Civic Center Plaza, in Santa Ana. This recognition is in observance of National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 14-20. The men and women to be honored are those who have assisted in rescues and who have rendered life saving care to children and adults throughout the county.The paramedics, firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) and other individuals, who responded to the difficult and emotional tragedy at a Costa Mesa preschool on May 3, 1999, will be recognized for their professionalism and heroism. A Garden Grove paramedic will also be recognized for his skill in saving a 2-year-old from choking to death. The above incidents reflect how early access to the EMS system may lead to life saving interventions. Emergency Medical Services of Orange County’s Health Care Agency, would like to encourage residents to get involved and become educated in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
