Helping older adults recover from the problems of alcohol and medication abuse and misuse is the focus of a one-day workshop Friday, June 2 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills. The "Removing The Stigma" workshop is the fourth annual Orange County conference on issues with substance abuse and the elderly. Designed for health care providers, chemical dependency counselors and senior service workers, the seminar offers information on successful intervention strategies and programs. Sponsoring organizations include the County of Orange Health Care Agency, American Society on Aging, the Positive Action Center at Chapman Medical Center and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center. Other sponsors are the County of Orange Area Agency on Aging, College Health Enterprises and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence-Orange County.
