"ocpetinfo.com" Web Page Reunites Owners With Lost Pets

Santa Ana - Help in finding a lost pet is just a mouse click away with today's debut of Orange County Animal Care Service's (ACS) new Pet Lost and Found web page.

The web page, which can be accessed through www.ocpetinfo.com, features the pictures and descriptions of lost dogs and cats currently housed at the Animal Care Center, 561 The City Drive South, Orange. Animals picked up by ACS field services officers are photographed after arrival at the Care Center and the listing of animals is automatically updated every 30 minutes.

ACS Interim Director Hal Maloney believes the new web feature will be of great benefit to pet owners. "We hope the Lost and Found web page will help unite more lost pets with their owners and will reduce the amount of time owners spend searching for a lost cat or dog," said Maloney. "We hope this will also remind pet owners of the importance of proper identification for their pets. A current license tag, an identification tag or even the owner's phone number written on a flea collar are the best ways to bring the search for a lost pet to a happy conclusion," according to Maloney. Once a lost pet is located on the web page, owners are encouraged to call the Care Center at 714-935-6943 to identify the pet by the registration number provided on the Web site. Other pet redemption information is also included on the site.

The launch of the Lost and Found Page is part of the continuing effort to improve services provided by the Animal Care Center and ACS, which serves 20 cities in Orange County. In June, the Adopt-A-Pet web site was introduced with the help of actress Loretta Swit, who played Major Houlihan in the hit television series "M*A*S*H*." The Adopt-A-Pet web page features a current list of dogs, cats and other animals available for adoption at the Care Center.
