Animal Care Services Celebrates Shelter Appreciation Day

(Orange) - Orange County Animal Care Services (ACS) will observe Shelter Appreciation Day on Saturday, November 10 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., as part of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, November 4-10.

"The Animal Care Center is proud to serve the people of Orange County by providing many important services and programs," says Dr. Julie Ryan, ACS Director. "But we can’t do it without the support of our community. We invite everyone to join us Saturday at the Animal Care Center located at 561 The City Drive South in Orange, to visit the animals and find out what you can do to help animals in need. "

Animal shelters, like the Orange County Animal Care Center, offer numerous services to assist animals and people alike: rescuing injured or lost animals, returning lost pets safely to their homes and adopting animals into new, loving families. They also provide guidance to assist the public with animal-related issues and concerns—from dealing with wildlife to helping with pet-behavior questions. There are many ways the public can help the Orange County Animal Care Center, including:

• Offering a donation of needed supplies.

• Spreading the word about the importance of responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering.

• Volunteering your time at the Animal Care Center or at a special event.

• Reporting animal cruelty or neglect.

• Choosing your next pet from among the many animals being cared for at the Orange County Animal Care Center.
