Fullerton Residents Encouraged to Learn More
About the Mental Health Services Act
(Fullerton) – Information about a unique opportunity
to transform the public mental health system in Orange County will be
provided to Fullerton residents at a public meeting to be held Monday,
February 28 from 3-5 p.m. in Room B at the Fullerton Public Library, 353 W.
Commonwealth.
The Proposition 63 Public Meeting will offer information
about the State’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), which will provide
funding to counties for expansion of mental health services and the
development of innovative programs for mentally ill children, adults and
older adults.
During the meeting, MHSA guidelines will be discussed and a
proposed planning process that will allow maximum participation by mental
health consumers, families, providers, key agency partners, advocates and
other stakeholders will be outlined. One of the key elements will be the
development of a MHSA Review Committee and a number of working groups that
will focus on individual parts of the initiative. Those attending the
meeting will be encouraged to participate in the planning process.
Proposition 63 was approved by California voters in November
2004 and became law on January 1, 2005.
