Orange County Nutrition and Physical Activity
Collaborative (NuPAC)
The Orange County Nutrition, Physical Activity Collaborative (NuPAC)
is a community-based group providing leadership and coordination
in the areas of nutrition, physical activity and food assistance.
Vision:
People in Orange County communities value and access affordable,
nutritious foods, engage in physical activity and celebrate
healthy lifestyles.
Mission:
The mission of the collaborative is to coordinate efforts and
maximize resources to decrease childhood obesity in Orange County.
Goals:

Ensure that institutions that affect children
provide good nutrition and opportunities for physical activity

Advocate for affordable, available and
accessible education and intervention services for overweight children
Disclaimer: Not all collaborative
activities are USDA allowable and may/will be pursued through
other non-USDA funding sources.
Membership
NuPAC has over 150 members on its e-mail distribution list and
30-50 members routinely attend meetings. Current members recruit
new members. Membership is open to all Orange County residents who
have a professional or personal interest in promoting healthy
eating and active lifestyles as described in the USDA
Food Guidance System.
Meetings
NuPAC meets quarterly, usually the first Thursday of the month
(February, May, August, November). Information and updates on the
topic are shared via e-mail on a routine basis, at least once a
month.
Committees/Workgroups
OC in Motion (OCiM) is
the Advisory Board for NuPAC. The
partners in OCiM include high-ranking community leaders, elected
officials, and representatives from academic institutions,
government agencies and local corporations that share a common
vision, “eradicate childhood obesity in our lifetime."
The Leadership Team is comprised of the Workgroup, Functional Committee and Network Support Group chairs and up to two “delegates at large” from the general membership.

Supports and coordinates appropriate community-based social marketing interventions in the following channels: Media, large Latino Festivals, Farmers’/Flea Markets, and Retail Stores. Promotes the Educational Toolbox to be utilized by Community-Based Organizations and Direct Health Organizations to implement Campaign messages through educational lessons. |
