Pulmonary Disease Services

HCA Pulmonary Service programs provide clinical care and case management by public health nurses for all patients with tuberculosis in Orange County. There are two full service clinics for diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis. All patients with active TB disease are on direct observed therapy (DOT). INH medication is provided to persons with latent TB infection.

The Orange County HCA Tuberculosis Control program receives reports of all tuberculosis cases and oversees surveillance and TB elimination activities for Orange County. Services include community TB prevention education, TB skin testing, and contact investigations to identify suspect cases for medical follow-up.

Pulmonary Disease Services also oversee the Refugee Health Program that provides health screening for newly arriving refugees to Orange County. New refugees are screened for tuberculosis, hepatitis and parasitic infections and referred to appropriate care.
