If you don’t live in Orange County and call 1-866-New-Lung, you will be referred to the California Smoker’s Helpline.
Yes, phone counseling is available in Spanish.
The hours are from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. You can call and leave a message after hours.
What if I live in South Orange County but work in North Orange County and don’t have enough time to get to the counseling/class near my home?
Let your representative know your situation and they will refer you to the cessation services most convenient to you.
Can I participate in all the sessions offered if I don’t stop smoking after the first one?
Yes, we are very supportive of our participants and are here to help you.
Do youth need to obtain a permission slip to participate?
Yes.
Although TFC project
is focused in 3 cities in Orange County, TUPP offers services to the
entire Orange County community.
How were the
three TFC cities chosen?
Orange County was divided into three regions (North, South,
West/Central) In the north the Cities are, Anaheim, Brea, Buena Park,
Fullerton, La Habra, La Palma, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. In
the south region the cities are, Aliso Viejo, Costa Mesa, Coto de Caza
Trabuco, Dana Point, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Lake Forrest,
San Clemente, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Rancho Santa
Margarita, San Juan Capistrano and Silverado/Modjeska. In the West/
Central region the cities are Cypress, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove,
Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Sunset
Beach, Surfside, Tustin and Westminster. In each of these regions one
city (or area) was chosen based on size, population, access to schools,
political climate, and partnerships within the community.
Can I take advantage of more than one of the cessation services?
Yes, you can participate in as many of the cessation services as you wish.
Is the "patch" included with the free smoking cessation services?
No, the patch is not included with the free cessation services. However, we recommend that you consult with your doctor to discuss possible nicotine replacement therapies that might aid in your cessation efforts.
