Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small flat insects (Cimex lectularius) that feed on the blood of people and animals where they sleep.  Bed bugs are not known to spread disease but can be an annoyance because of the itching and subsequent loss of sleep.

Since bed bug infestations do not spread diseases, they are NOT reportable as a communicable disease to OCHCA Epidemiology.  However, for complaints on bed bug infestations, you can call Environmental Health at 714-433-6000 or see www.ochealthinfo.com/eh/more/housing.
