About Us: Immunization Assistance Program (IAP)

Did you know? Every year an estimated 20,000 children younger than 5 years old are hospitalized for flu complications. Like pneumonia. Everyone in your family who is 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine. This year, Next year, Every year. #getafluvax

IAP participates in Federal and State programs to help all residents have access to immunization through OC public health clinics, community clinics, schools, and daycare centers. IAP is a member and supporter of the Orange County Immunization Coalition (OCIC).

Here are three ways IAP provides immunization assistance:

  • Vaccines for Children (VFC) – A Federal program offering vaccines at no/reduced cost for eligible children through VFC-enrolled doctors. Vaccinating on time means healthier children, families, and communities.

Find out if your child qualifies for VFC vaccines: www.cdc.gov/vaccines/programs/vfc/parents/qa-detailed.html

Find a VFC provider office in your area: eziz.org/vfc/provider-locations/
  • Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program – The County of Orange participates in a statewide perinatal hepatitis B prevention and case management program for infants born to mothers who are carriers of the Hepatitis B virus. The program coordinates the testing and immunization of susceptible family members and household contacts.

Contact the Perinatal Hepatitis B Coordinator at (714) 834-7888Image removed. or visit the State program website for additional information.

  • California Immunization Registry (CAIR) – The California Immunization Registry (CAIR) is a free service available to all healthcare providers who give immunizations for students to attend colleges, schools, and daycare centers that have immunization requirements. Immunization registries are confidential, computerized information systems enabling providers to record, update, and access up-to-date immunization documents for their patients.

Along with immunization registries, together we can ensure patients’ vaccinations are up to date, minimize missed vaccination opportunities, and help our patients stay healthy and disease-free. For more information about CAIR, please visit: www.cairweb.org/.
