Child Abuse Registry and Emergency Response (CAR/ER) is a collaboration with Orange County Social Services Agency Children and Family Services to support Social Workers with child abuse and neglect investigations. Together, we work as a unified team to provide timely assessments, ensure child safety, and connect families to the resources and care they need during critical moments. Through this coordinated effort, we strengthen communication, improve decision‑making, and help ensure that every child receives a consistent, informed response during times of need.

What We Do
Public Health Nurses provide nursing consultations, medical record reviews, and field responses to assess the health and developmental condition of children who have been reported for suspected child abuse and neglect. They work closely with families and community partners to ensure children receive the support, care, and follow‑up they need to remain safe and thrive. Through this integrated approach, Public Health Nurses help bridge medical insight with social services, strengthening decision‑making and promoting early intervention when concerns arise.
