Community Corner: Suicide Prevention Events

Hope Card Project, September 11, 2025

HCA held a Hope Card Project at a large-scale volunteer event with the Lion Heart. Lions in Action is a community service event where members Grades 6-12 from the award-winning Lion’s Heart Teen Volunteers and Leaders organization engage in meaningful service. Over 100 students in attendance, 50 cards were created to uplift community members in need.

Out of Darkness Walk, September 13, 2025

The Health Care Agency participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Out of the Darkness Walk, on September 13, 2025 in Irvine, to observance of Suicide Prevention week. The annual event is a journey of remembrance, hope and support. It unites our community and provides an opportunity to acknowledge all the ways in which suicide has affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.

Irvine Valley College Walk of Hope, September 23, 2025

This public event, open for community members to attend, provides a space for advocates and those with lived experiences to mourn, reflect, and take meaningful action for suicide prevention. In addition to resource vendors, attendees will listen to stories from guest speakers and participate in a walk of solidarity around campus. Organizers expect around 400 attendees.
