(Santa Ana, CA) – In anticipation of increased gatherings during the Lunar New Year holiday and due to high COVID-19 hospitalizations, the OC Health Agency urges residents and visitors to strictly follow proper masking, proper hand-hygiene, physical distancing, and other non-medical preventative measures to minimize further spread of the highly transmissible Omicron variant.  

Between January 13 and January 25, the seven-day average COVID-19 case rate in Orange County decreased from 207 to 189 per 100,000 people, average number of daily COVID-19 cases from 6,683 to 6,097, and positivity rate from 26.8 to 25.3 percent. However, hospitalizations remain high at 1,114 as well as ICU admissions at 191. The majority of hospitalizations continues to be among the unvaccinated at 85%.

“We are starting to see cases stabilize; however, what we know from previous surges is once we hit a peak in cases, we usually see an increase in hospitalizations continuing to occur in the days or weeks following,” says Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong, Deputy County Health Officer. “We expect hospitalizations to remain high and, combined with healthcare staff getting sick and being unavailable to care for patients, this puts a huge strain on our hospitals and healthcare system. It has been two years since we first received confirmation of our first COVID-19 case here in Orange County, and sadly to date, we reached an unfortunate milestone with over 6,000 OC residents having lost their lives to COVID-19. I know people are tired of hearing about masks, vaccines and testing, but we must continue to do our part to follow all of the preventative measures against COVID-19 to help minimize everyone’s risk of getting infected and reduce the strain on our health care system. This is additionally important as we expect people to gather for Lunar New Year celebrations.”

To continue slowing the spread of COVID-19, Orange County residents and visitors are advised to:

• Get fully vaccinated and boosted to maximize your immunity against COVID-19 
• Wear a well-fitting mask when you are indoors in public, in crowded settings or around others who are at high risk of getting sick from COVID-19. The CDC recommends that you wear an N95 mask or the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently. 
• Keep a safe distance from others outside of your household, to avoid close contact with people who may be unvaccinated or asymptomatic
• If you recently attended a high risk event, traveled, or came into close contact with someone who has COVID-19, self-monitor for symptoms and get tested. Stay home and follow self-quarantine guidance if you came into close contact with someone who has COVID-19.
• If you are sick, stay home, follow self-isolation guidance and get tested. 

Testing continues to be a critical component in reducing viral transmission by supporting early detection of COVID-19 and containment of the disease. There are many ways to get a COVID-19 test:

• At-home tests are now available to order online through the U.S. Postal Service by visiting covidtests.gov
• Find tests by asking your healthcare provider or going to a local retail pharmacy
• Order at-home test kits online at no cost through the OC Health Care Agency at ochealthinfo.com/covidtest
• Search for a local certified testing site by going to covid19.ca.gov/get-tested or covidclinic.org

For people who are ordering test kits online, please be patient as test kits may be delayed beyond the usual processing time due to high demand for COVID-19 testing and deliveries being affected by weather. 

If you suspect that a testing operation may be fraudulent, please report it to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, by calling (800) HHS-TIPS, or online at oig.hhs.gov/fraud.

Federal Government Offers Free N95 Masks:

Beginning this week, the federal government will make 400 million non-surgical N95 masks available for free at pharmacies and community health centers across the country. 

“Each adult will be able to pick up three free masks. The masks will be available at tens of thousands of pharmacies and 100-200 community health centers across the country,” said Dr. Clayton Chau, HCA Director and County Health Officer. “Most of the pharmacies that have partnered with the federal government to deliver COVID-19 vaccines through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program are expected to participate in the new mask distribution program, including CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Rite Aid, Publix, Walmart and Sam's Club.”

Anyone looking to pick up the free masks should contact their local stores to confirm that they are available. At this time, only adult size masks are available; high quality smaller size masks for children will be made available in the near future.

State Extends Booster Deadline for Healthcare Workers:

On January 25, the State updated three health orders, extending the deadline for the booster requirement for health care workers and all employees in high-risk congregate settings, including nursing homes. According to the orders, all affected workers currently eligible for boosters must be "fully vaccinated and boosted" for COVID-19 by receiving all recommended doses of the primary series of vaccines and a vaccine booster dose by no later than March 1, 2022 (instead of February 1). 

The orders apply to workers in:

• Adult Care Facilities and Direct Care
• State and Local Correctional Facilities and Detention Centers
• Health Care Facilities

All other terms of the order remain unchanged.

(Santa Ana, CA) – En previsión del aumento de las reuniones durante las festividades del Año Nuevo Lunar y debido al elevado número de hospitalizaciones por COVID-19, la Agencia del Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange urge a los residentes y a los visitantes a que sigan estrictamente las medidas del uso de mascarillas, la higiene de las manos, el distanciamiento físico y otras medidas preventivas no médicas para minimizar la propagación de la variante Omicron, altamente contagiosa.   

Entre el 13 y el 25 de enero, la tasa media de casos de COVID-19 en siete días en el Condado de Orange disminuyó de 207 a 189 por cada 100,000 personas, el número medio de casos diarios de COVID-19 de 6,683 a 6,097 y la tasa de positividad de 26.8 a 25.3%. Sin embargo, las hospitalizaciones siguen siendo altas, con 1,114, así como los ingresos en la UCI, con 191. La mayoría de las hospitalizaciones sigue siendo entre los no vacunados, en un 85%.

"Cada adulto podrá recoger tres mascarillas gratuitas. Las mascarillas estarán disponibles en decenas de miles de farmacias y entre 100 y 200 centros de salud comunitarios de todo el país", dijo el Dr. Clayton Chau, Director de la HCA y Funcionario de Salud del Condado. "Se espera que la mayoría de las farmacias que se han asociado con el gobierno federal para distribuir las vacunas contra el COVID-19 a través del Programa Federal de Farmacias Minoristas participen en el nuevo programa de distribución de mascarillas, incluyendo CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Rite Aid, Publix, Walmart y Sam's Club".

(Santa Ana, CA) – With COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations surging in Orange County, the OC Health Agency strongly urges residents and visitors to strictly follow proper masking, proper hand-hygiene, physical distancing, and other non-medical preventative measures to minimize further spread of this highly transmissible variant.  

Between January 6 and January 12, the seven-day average COVID-19 case rate in Orange County jumped from 94 to 183 per 100,000 people and the average number of daily COVID-19 cases rose from 3,031 to 5,896. The positivity rate also increased from 19.1 to 25.8 percent, hospitalizations from 724 to 1,071, and ICU admissions from 107 to 154 per day. 

“With the highly transmissible Omicron variant causing widespread infection around the world and locally, it is apparent that adding additional layers of protection to prevent transmission is more important now than ever,” says Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong, Deputy County Health Officer. “Recent studies continue to show that getting vaccinated significantly minimizes the chances of having a severe illness, getting hospitalized or dying from Omicron. Vaccination also helps reduce the strain on our health system. The majority of hospitalizations at this time continues to be among the unvaccinated at 86%. We urge everyone to be vigilant about protecting one another by taking preventive steps to avoid further transmission.”

During the current surge, Orange County residents and visitors are advised to:

• Get fully vaccinated and boosted to maximize your immunity against COVID-19 
• Wear a well-fitting mask as an added layer of protection against viruses which can spread through respiratory droplets. The State’s indoor masking mandate for everyone regardless of vaccination status has been extended until February 15, 2022
• Keep a safe distance from others outside of your household, to avoid close contact with people who may be unvaccinated or asymptomatic
• If you recently attended a high risk event, traveled, or came into close contact with someone who has COVID-19, self-monitor for symptoms and get tested
• If you are sick, stay home, follow isolation guidance and get tested

Updates on COVID-19 Testing

In an effort to increase access to free COVID-19 testing, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that beginning January 15, 2022, individuals covered by private health insurance or group health plan will be able to purchase over-the-counter, at-home COVID-19 tests approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and have those costs covered by their plan or insurance. Testing shortages and supply chain issues are continuing across the U.S. People recently exposed to COVID-19, or have mild symptoms, are advised to follow the State’s isolation and quarantine guidance, and to be patient in searching for testing options. You can locate nearby testing services through the State’s website at covid19.ca.gov/get-tested.

Self-collection, at-home COVID-19 Test Kits continue to be available at no cost to people who work or live in Orange County, and can be ordered online at ochealthinfo.com/covidtest. Due to the increased demand for COVID-19 testing, however, requestors are encouraged to be patient as test kits may be delayed beyond the usual processing time.

People without symptoms, or who have mild symptoms and are at low risk of severe disease, should not go to the hospital or emergency room to obtain screening testing. Hospitals are focused on people who are sick and need urgent care.

As testing shortages continue throughout the U.S., reports are surfacing about pop-up testing operations that may be unlicensed and out to scam people. Asking what laboratory they are sending to or requesting to see their healthcare credential will be helpful as most tests require a licensed professional to gather specimens. Legitimate testing sites will NOT ask for social security numbers or other data designed to collect your personal information.

CDC Recommends Moderna Booster at 5 Months

On January 7, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) extended the recommendation for shortening the interval between the primary vaccination and booster dose for the Moderna vaccine to 5 months. People who initially received an mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty/Pfizer or Moderna) can now receive a booster dose of an mRNA vaccine 5 months after completing their primary series.

Vaccines continue to be widely available throughout Orange County for walk-in, same day and future appointments. Individuals who are not yet vaccinated or boosted against COVID-19, or are eligible for a third dose (due to immunocompromise conditions) are encouraged to visit a local pharmacy or healthcare provider, or go online to Vaccines.gov, MyTurn.ca.gov or Othena.com, to schedule a vaccination appointment.

La Agencia del Cuidados de la Salud del Condado de Orange Insta a Tomar Medidas Preventivas ante el Aumento de los Casos de COVID-19 y de las Hospitalizaciones, y Actualiza el Calendario de Pruebas y Dosis de Refuerzo

(Santa Ana, CA) – Con el aumento de los casos y las hospitalizaciones por COVID-19 en el Condado de Orange, la Agencia del Cuidado de la Salud del Condado de Orange urge a los residentes y visitantes a seguir estrictamente el uso de mascarillas, la higiene de manos adecuada, el distanciamiento físico y otras medidas preventivas no médicas para minimizar la propagación de esta variante altamente transmisible.  

Entre el 6 y el 12 de enero, la tasa media de casos de COVID-19 en siete días en el Condado de Orange pasó de 94 a 183 por cada 100,000 personas y el número medio de casos diarios de COVID-19 aumentó de 3,031 a 5,896. La tasa de positividad también aumentó del 19.1 al 25.8%, las hospitalizaciones de 724 a 1,071 y los ingresos en la UCI de 107 a 154 por día.

Los CDC Recomiendan el Refuerzo de Moderna a los 5 Meses

Từ ngày 6 tháng Giêng cho đến ngày 12 tháng Giêng, trung bình bảy ngày các trường hợp lây nhiễm COVID-19 tại Quận Cam tăng vọt từ 94 lên 183 cho 100,000 người và con số trung bình mỗi ngày các trường hợp lây nhiễm COVID-19 gia tăng từ 3,031 lên 5,896. Tỷ lệ dương tính cũng tăng từ 19.1 lên 25.8%, phải vào bệnh viện tăng từ 724 lên 1,071,  và phải vào khẩn trương ICU từ 107 lên 154 mỗi ngày.

CDC Đề Nghị Chích Mũi Booster của Hãng Moderna trong vòng 5 tháng

Variant surveillance using whole genome sequencing shows that the proportion of Omicron variant increased from 30% for the week ending December 21, 2021, to 83% for the week ending December 28, 2021. Cases across the county, state, and country, continue to rise exponentially. (Santa Ana, CA) – The OC Health Care Agency (HCA) has confirmed a COVID-related pediatric death in Orange County. In December, a child under the age of 5 died of complications related to COVID-19 infection.

“We have lost another precious young life to this terrible virus; it is our third pediatric death in Orange County since the start of the pandemic,” said Dr. Clayton Chau, HCA Director and County Health Officer. “This is yet another somber reminder that we must continue to do everything we can to protect our loved ones, especially our little ones under 5 years of age who are not able to be vaccinated.”

Between December 30 and January 5, the seven-day average COVID-19 case rate in Orange County jumped from 25.5 to 67.5 per 100,000 people and the average number of daily COVID-19 cases rose from 822 to 2,179. The positivity rate also increased from 6.5 to 16.2 percent, hospitalizations from 453 to 673, and ICU admissions from 89 to 114 per day. The majority of people who are hospitalized due to COVID-19 continue to be among those who are unvaccinated, at 87%.

“COVID-19 has been spreading very quickly. Cases are reaching levels that we haven’t seen throughout this pandemic,” says Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong, Deputy County Health Officer. “We strongly urge our county residents and visitors to please take all preventative measures to reduce your risk of getting sick or hospitalized. Even though breakthrough infections are possible, the most important thing you can do is get vaccinated and boosted to maximize your immunity to COVID-19 and reduce your chance of getting severely infected.”

In addition to getting vaccinated, Orange County residents and visitors are encouraged to take these preventative measures against COVID-19:

Get tested 24 hours before and 3-5 days after gathering or traveling: 

• Self-collection, at-home COVID-19 Test Kits are available at no cost to people who work or live in Orange County, and can be ordered online at ochealthinfo.com/covidtest. 
• An email address is required for each individual requesting a test kit. 
• Each kit comes with a prepaid shipping return label and results are provided within 24-48 hours upon receipt of the specimen. 

People without symptoms, or who have mild symptoms and are at low risk of severe disease, should not go to the hospital or emergency room to obtain screening testing. Hospitals are focused on people who are sick and need urgent care.

Rapid tests are currently in short supply nationwide; people who are in need of quicker test results are encouraged to check with their healthcare provider or local retail pharmacy for availability of rapid tests.

California mask mandate extended to February 15:

• According to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), universal masking indoors is now required through February 15, 2022 to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Revised Cal/OSHA ETS and County Health Orders

Cal/OSHA has issued revised Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) that will go into effect on January 14, 2022. The ETS requires employers to develop a written COVID-19 Prevention Program to address health hazards and unsafe conditions due to COVID-19. Recommendations for Pfizer Booster and Additional Primary Doses

The recommendations apply only to the Pfizer vaccine, not to the Moderna or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccines.

Cal/OSHA ha emitido Normas Temporales de Emergencia (ETS por sus siglas en inglés) actualizadas que entrarán en vigor el 14 de enero de 2022. Las ETS exigen que los empleadores desarrollen un Programa de Prevención del COVID-19 por escrito para tratar los peligros para la salud y las condiciones inseguras debidas al COVID-19. Recomendaciones para las Dosis de Refuerzo y las Dosis Primarias Adicionales de Pfizer

El 4 de Enero y el 5 de Enero, los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) emitieron las siguientes recomendaciones para la administración de la vacuna contra el COVID-19 de Comirnaty (Pfizer):

• Como dosis de refuerzo en individuos de 12 a 17 años
• Como dosis de refuerzo 5 meses después de la vacunación primaria, para individuos de 12 años o más
• Como tercera dosis primaria adicional para niños de 5 a 11 años de edad con inmunodeficiencia moderada o grave, 28 días después de su segunda dosis

Las recomendaciones sólo se aplican a la vacuna de Pfizer, no a las vacunas de Moderna o Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).

Las vacunas siguen estando ampliamente disponibles en todo el Condado de Orange para visitas sin cita previa, para el mismo día y para futuras citas. Tin Tức Cập Nhật Từ Cơ Quan Y Tế Công Cộng Quận Cam (HCA): Xác Nhận Trường Hợp Tử Vong của Ấu Nhi Do COVID-19, Khuyến Cáo Các Biện Pháp Ngăn Ngừa vào lúc Các Trường Hợp Lây Nhiễm COVID-19 và phải vào Bệnh Viện Gia Tăng Cao Độ, Thông Báo Các Đề Nghị Mới Nhất Từ Cơ Quan Bài Dịch Liên Bang (CDC)

(Santa Ana, CA) – Cơ Quan Y Tế Công Cộng Quận Cam (HCA) đã xác nhận một trường hợp tử vong của ấu nhi liên quan đến COVID-19 tại Quận Cam. Trong tháng Mười Hai, một em bé dưới 5 tuổi đã thiệt mạng do biến chứng liên quan đến việc lây nhiễm COVID-19.

Bác sĩ Clayton Chau, Giám Đốc Cơ Quan Y Tế Công Cộng kiêm Ủy Viên Đặc Nhiệm Y Tế Quận Cam phát biểu: “ Chúng ta vừa mới mất đi một mạng sống trẻ quý báu vì con virus tai hại này; Đây là trường hợp tử vong ấu nhi thứ ba tại Quận Cam kể từ khi bắt đầu của đại dịch. Đây cũng là một sự nhắc nhở đau buồn là chúng ta phải tiếp tục làm đủ mọi phương thức có thể được để bảo vệ những người thân yêu của chúng ta, đặc biệt các em bé dưới 5 tuổi chưa có thể được chích ngừa.”

Từ ngày 30 tháng Mười Hai đến ngày 5 tháng Giêng, trung bình bảy ngày tỷ lệ các trường hợp lây nhiễm vì COVID-19 tại Quận Cam đã nhảy vọt từ 25.5 lên đến 67.5 cho 100,000 người và trung bình con số lây nhiễm COVID-19 mỗi ngày gia tăng từ 822 lên đến 2,179. Tỷ lệ dương tính đồng thời cũng tăng từ 6.4 lên 16.2 %, phải vào bệnh viện tăng từ 453 lên 673, và phải chữa trị khẩn trương tại ICU tăng từ 89 lên 114 mỗi ngày. Đa số những người phải vào bệnh viện vì COVID-19 tiếp tục trong số những không chích ngừa lên đến 87%.”

Bác sĩ Regina Chinsio-Kwong, Phó Ủy Viên Đặc Nhiệm Y tế Quận Cam phát biểu: “COVID-19 đã lây lan một cách nhanh chóng. Các trường hợp lây nhiễm và phải vào bệnh viện đã vượt lên một mức độ mà chúng tôi chưa bao giờ thấy trong suốt mùa đại dịch. Chúng tôi mạnh mẽ khuyến cáo tất cả cư dân quận hạt và du khách nên áp dụng tất cả  các biện pháp phòng ngừa để làm giảm nguy cơ quý vị có thể bị bệnh và phải vào bệnh viện. Ngay cả chúng ta có thể chận đứng được sự lây nhiễm, vấn đề quan trọng mà quý vị có thể làm được là phải chích ngừa hoàn toàn và chích ngừa mũi booster để tối đa hóa sự miễn nhiễm trong cơ thể để chống lại COVID-19 và làm giảm cơ hội chúng ta bị lây nhiễm trầm trọng.”

Ngoài việc chích ngừa, các cư dân Quận Cam và du khách được khuyến khích nên thực hiện các biện pháp phòng ngừa chống lại COVID-19:

Nên đi xét nghiệm 24 giờ trước khi và 3-5 ngày sau khi tụ tập hay đi du lịch:

• Bộ Xét Nghiệm COVID-19 tại gia, tự mình làm lấy và gởi đi hoàn toàn miễn phí cho những người sinh sống hay làm việc tại Quận Cam, và có thể yêu cầu qua trang mạng ochealthinfo.com/covidtest.
• Một địa chỉ điện thư bắt buộc đính kèm cho bất cứ ai yêu cầu bộ xét nghiệm.
• Mỗi bộ xét nghiệm đều được đính kèm nhãn chứng nhận được trả bưu phí gởi trở lại và kết quả được cung cấp trong vòng từ 24 -48 giờ đồng hồ ngay sau khi nhận được mẫu thử nghiệm.

Những người không có triệu chứng, hay những người có triệu chứng nhẹ và ở mức độ thấp của bệnh nặng, không nên đến bệnh viện hay phòng cứu cấp khẩn trương để xin được xét nghiệm. Bệnh viện chỉ chú trọng đến những người bệnh và cần được chữa trị khẩn cấp.

Các bộ xét nghiệm nhanh chóng hiện tại đang thiếu hụt trên toàn quốc, những người nào cần được xét nghiệm để có kết quả cấp thời nên liên lạc với các bác sĩ gia đình hay đến các dược phòng địa phương để có thể được xét nghiệm nhanh chóng.

Việc bắt buộc phải đeo khẩu trang tại California được gia hạn đến ngày 15 tháng Hai:

• Theo quy định của Bộ Y Tế Tiểu Bang California (CDPH). Việc đeo khẩu trang toàn bộ trong khu vực nội vi các cơ sở công tư trên toàn tiểu bang hiện nay được bắt buộc cho đến hết ngày 15 tháng Hai, 2022 để làm chậm lại sự lây lan của COVID-19.

Tuân Thủ các Đề Phòng An Toàn về COVID-19:

Cơ Quan Cal/OSHA đã ban hành các Tiêu Chuẩn Khẩn Trương Tạm Thời (ETS) được hiệu đính và sẽ có hiệu lực vào ngày 14 tháng Giêng, 2022. Những Đề Nghị Cho Việc Chích Ngừa Mũi Booster Pfizer và Những Mũi Chích Ngừa Thêm Đầu Tiên

Váo ngày 4 Tháng Giêng và 5 tháng Giêng, Cơ Quan Bài Dịch Liên Bang (CDC) đã ban hành những đề nghị sau đây về việc chích ngừa COVID-19 của hãng Comirnaty (Pfizer):

• Mũi chích ngừa booster cho những cá nhân tuổi từ 12 -17
• Mũi chích ngừa booster 5 tháng sau khi chích ngừa các mũi đầu tiên, cho các cá nhân từ 12 tuổi trở lên
• Mũi chích ngừa thêm thứ ba cho các trẻ em có hệ thống miễn nhiễm từ bình thường cho đến có nguy cơ cao từ 5 đến 11 tuổi, 28 ngày sau khi đã chích mũi thứ hai

Những đề nghị này chỉ áp dụng cho thuốc chích ngừa Pfizer, không phải thuốc chích ngừa của hãng Moderna hay Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).

Việc chích ngừa được tiếp tục rộng rãi trên toàn Quận Cam cho những người đến chích , trong ngày không cần lấy hẹn, hay lấy hẹn trong tương lai. (Santa Ana, California) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted cold overnight temperatures throughout inland, coastal and south Orange County cities beginning Tuesday, January 4 through Wednesday, January 5. Overnight temperatures in some areas will dip to the low 40s. Colder-than-normal temperatures increase the risk of cold-related illnesses like hypothermia, especially for those who are more sensitive to extreme weather changes.

When exposed to cold temperatures, your body begins to lose heat faster than it can be produced. Low body temperature may make you unable to think clearly or move well. Hypothermia occurs most likely at very cold temperatures, but it can occur even at cool temperatures (above 40°F) if a person becomes chilled from rain, sweat or submersion in cold water.

“When prolonged exposure to very cold temperatures occurs, it is important to make certain that you are protected from hypothermia. In addition, it is critical to check that seniors who live alone, your neighbors, pets and vulnerable populations are safe during this time,” said Dr. Regina Chinsio-Kwong, Deputy County Health Officer.

Residents are also cautioned against using their kitchen range or oven to heat their homes. Home furnaces and heaters should be inspected periodically, with needed repairs performed by a qualified and licensed heating or plumbing contractor. If space heaters are used, make sure there is nothing within three feet of the heater that could catch on fire, such as bedding, drapes or furniture. Never cover your space heater and never leave children unattended near a space heater. If electric power is lost, never use a gasoline powered generator indoors, in a garage or near doors or windows where air may enter a home due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that at high levels of exposure can be fatal. Low levels of carbon monoxide poisoning can be confused with flu symptoms, food poisoning or other illnesses and can have a long-term health risk if left unattended. Some of the symptoms of low-level exposure include shortness of breath, mild nausea and mild headaches. Moderate levels of carbon monoxide exposure can present with headaches, dizziness, nausea and lightheadedness. Every home should have a carbon monoxide detector, along with a smoke detector.

Recommended precautions to prepare your household for cold weather or power outage:

• Check on those who are at high risk to make sure they are staying warm – including seniors who live alone, as well as other vulnerable populations such as young children.
• Make sure to check on your pets.
• Wear layers of clothing.

On December 30, 2021, the California Department of Public Health issued AFL 21-08.6, which provides general acute care hospitals, acute psychiatric hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities with updated guidance on COVID-19 isolation and quarantine for healthcare personnel. OCHCA recommends that county healthcare facilities become familiar with and adhere to AFL 21-08.6. 

In the context of rapidly increasing COVID-19 case counts caused by the omicron variant, on December 23, 2021, the CDC updated its recommendations for management of healthcare staff exposed to or infected with SARS-CoV-2.
