Environmental Health Tech (EHT) can work in any of our EH programs.

An EHS commonly works in the following programs:

Requirements:

  1. College Graduate
  2. Possess either:
  • Registration as an Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) from CDPH (California Department of Public Health) 

    -OR-

  • A pre-certification letter from CDPH when submitting your application for employment in Orange County. There are two steps at CDPH:

    - Fill out the application CPS

    - Submit your official college transcripts to CPS

  • Once you have received your letter of eligibility from CPS, apply on Orange County Job Opportunities website. 

Specialists are hired at different EHS levels based on their current REHS status and experience.

     - Bachelor’s degree

     - CDPH Letter of Eligibility

     - REHS Certificate

  • Environmental Health Specialist II

     - REHS Certificate and one year experience

  • Environmental Health Specialist III

     - REHS Certificate and two years’ experience
